Indiana wants public input for new state rail plan

Indiana’s Department of Transportation is updating the state’s freight and passenger rail plan, and wants your input. INDOT is encouraging the public and all rail stakeholders to complete a brief online survey and attend one of three rail planning open houses around the state during mid-November:

Thursday, Nov. 10
INDOT Vincennes District, 3650 South U.S. Highway 41, Vincennes, IN 47591

Tuesday, Nov. 15
INDOT LaPorte District, 315 E. Boyd Boulevard, LaPorte, IN 46352

Thursday, Nov. 17
INDOT Indianapolis Sub-District, 7105 Brookville Road, Indianapolis IN 46239

For all the open houses, brief informal presentations will begin at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. Staff from both INDOT’s rail division and consultant WSP Parsons Brinckerhoff will be available both before and after the presentations for members of the public or rail stakeholders who may wish to speak with them. Attendees will also be asked to complete a paper survey

States applying for federal rail funding must have an approved State Rail Plan. INDOT's consultant expects to have a draft Rail Plan completed for public review in the spring of 2017. Indiana’s most recent State Rail Plan is available here.

*Special accommodations will be made for individuals needing auxiliary aids or services of interpreters, signers, readers, or large print. Anyone with such needs should contact Rickie Clark with INDOT's Office of Public Involvement at 317-232-6601 or rclark@indot.in.gov.
